Dose of Optimism #5

How to end the week on an optimistic note

It’s Friday, and we made it to a well deserved weekend… at home.  But truly, there is something to celebrate today…  we made it through a pretty crazy week, and more than ever it might be a great time to figure out what your end of the week ritual will be.  If your regular Friday night plan is to head out and meet up with some friends, why not still do it on Zoom?  And if your usual habit is to go home and crash… well you’re ahead of the game!

We like to end our week with a bit of a look back and forward. What worked, and what didn’t?  What can we learn and take with us to make next week MORE optimistic?

Take this email, for example. On Monday we were (maybe overly) ambitious about the need for a daily optimistic email. And over the week, we watched a good amount of you open it (thank you!).  But maybe it is too much to send everyday?  Is the content helping you grow and thrive?  We want to be mindful of your inbox, and are thinking about the best way we can serve the cause for optimism even when things are challenging.

So, if you are willing, please send us a bit of feedback by emailing us. Is this too much? Too different?  TOO optimistic? Or maybe, what DO you want?  We would love your thoughts.

Because that’s what Applied Optimists do – they leverage purpose and knowledge to create optimistic solutions to big questions.

We are optimistic you will take a few minutes to answer ours (and its easy, just reply to this email).

To send you on your way this week with a bit of optimism, here is a short list of ideas to help end your week, and enjoy your weekend, on an optimistic note…

  • The folks at the Pop Culture Happy Hour Podcast and NPR’s Art’s Desk have a few ideas how to feel better when the CoronaBlues hit. (NPR)

  • Maybe you work your stress out by working your body out. If so, read this article to learn how to sweat out a pandemic. (The Atlantic)

  • Still want to see a concert this weekend? You can! From Home!  Check out this list of how and when.  Music not your thing? Here’s a list of museums you can visit virtually.  (Billboard and USA Today)

That’s your daily dose of optimism for the day. Did you enjoy it?  Then maybe forward it to your family and friends who also could use a dose of optimism.  Have an idea, suggestion or feedback you want to share? Email us here.
